Chile is Fourth Year in a Row the “Adventure tourism destination”

Chile continues to do well at the World Travel Awards (WTA). This year, the award ceremony for South America was held in Quito, Ecuador, and Chile won for the fourth consecutive year the award for 2018’s Best Adventure Destination.

 

In addition, Chile’s Atacama Desert was recognized as the “Most Romantic Destination” in the region thanks to its landscapes and magical experiences. Atacama was able to beat Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena de Indias and the Galapagos Islands in the run up to the title.

 

 

 

“It is with great pride that we continue to positioning ourselves at an international level. Chile is being recognized as a tourism power house due to its competitive advantages and the great public-private work that we are carrying out. This is great news as well because it provides recognition to a sector of Chile’s economy that is strategic to it’s growth, “said Helen Kouyoumdjian, Executive Vice President of Fedetur.

 

 

 

Finally, the port of Valparaíso was also rewarded for the second time as Best Cruise Terminal. The Santiago Ritz Carlton Hotel was chosen as the most important hotel for doing business in the region. LATAM also took the award of Airline Leader 2018.

 

 

Chile is now set to compete for the third time running a the world’s best adventure tourism destination at this year’s “Tourism Oscars”, where one can already vote. Chile competes with other tourism destinations, such as the United States, New Zealand and Canada.
