Vote for Chile at World Travel Awards
The process begins with online voting, which started in March and will last until July 19, 2017. Nominations are grouped according to level and include national and regional prizes for different sectors, products, and services.
Besides the above-mentioned nomination, Chile has 12 other applications in process. Chile is being considered for awards including best beach destination (Easter Island), best business tourism destination (Santiago), best culinary destination (Chile) and best cruise destination, to name a few.
This year, World Travel Awards commemorates its 24th anniversary. Since 1993, World Travel Awards—considered the “Oscars of tourism”—has celebrated excellence in all areas of the industry. Chile has already won the award for adventure tourism twice before for Latin America (2015, 2016), and in 2016, Chile was crowned winner worldwide.
For Debbie Feldman, General Manager at Chile Travel, “The World Travel Awards affords an extremely important occasion for recognition and publicity. It´s accepted by industry professionals and travelers all over the world, which allows us to continue working to position our country´s brand and marketing Chile as an adventure tourism destination.”
According to the Adventure Tourism Index published by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) in 2016, Chile takes first place in the region (Latin America and the Caribbean), putting it ahead of Costa Rica, Uruguay, Dominica, and Barbados.
