Every year the international contest “Adventure in Motion”, organized by ATTA (Adventure Travel Trade Association) awards the best adventure travel video during the Adventure Travel World Summit, that took place this year in Tuscany, Italy.
After a contest of more than 2 months, the documentary “Adventure is for All” produced by EcoCampPatagonia was finalist and won during the finale with live voting from the 800 delegates, where 2 other videos (from Portugal and Canada) were screened.
The audiovisual piece portrays the moving story of Álvaro Silberstein, protagonist of the first complete tour in Torres del Paine by a person in a wheelchair. This milestone marked the beginning of Wheel The World, an initiative that seeks to bring tourism activities to people with different abilities and is supported by Ecocamp Patagonia, a geodesic hotel located in Torres del Paine National Park.
Timothy Dhalleine, who directed the video, says “When I did Adventure is For All, I wanted to inspire the travel industry, adventure travel organizations and people around the world to make remote and wild places more accessible regions for travelers with disabilities. Everyone can make small and simple efforts for the world to be a more accessible place. It matters a lot, because the need to explore is deep inside us and disability should not make it impossible. It is a powerful message we are proud to send from Chile, together with EcoCamp and Wheel the World”.
