Wake up at an Upscape Travel Outpost

AN OUTPOST IS A LAST CONNECTION TO CIVILIZATION.

We believe the value of travel is found only when we’re able to leave behind our personal paradigm, explore what is unknown to us and return home with a new take on life. But with the secrets of a destination exposed to all online through social media, we’re traveling differently these days. Setting out with expectations already defined, relaxing into a routine, but a routine nonetheless.

Outpost is a response to this dilemma, from the need to help change the way we’re traveling through Chile. To go where tourism doesn’t exist today, where one can feel overwhelmed by nature and touched by the local (remote) culture with 100% guided, logistics support and carefully curated camp comforts.

THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSES 2019 / 2020

Outpost Elqui and Outpost Lakes

ON THE SHORES OF THE JEINIMENI RIVER

In the northern region of Patagonia, nestled just a few hours drive off the Carretera Austral flows the Jeinimeni River. An unexplored pocket of Patagonia with a legendary river.

Patagonia is considered by many to be the final frontier of the New World. Vast pampas dotted with the occasional estancia and trees deformed by the fierce Patagonian wind form an isolated landscape. While tourism has discovered the more southern regions (and for good reason), the lesser-known region of Aysén, offers perhaps a little less accessibility and many more opportunities to get completely off-the-grid.

The region is painted with blues of wide open sky and the glacial lakes and rivers below, along with the contrasting greens and yellows of pampa that stretches as far as the imagination.

NESTLED WITHIN MAULE VALLEY’S WINE COUNTRY

In the heart of Chile, between the rugged Andean peaks and the rolling coastal range lies a region lost in time, Maule Valley.

For 400 years the Maule River was the dividing line between the ancient Incan and Mapuche empires. Later it became the southern limit for the Spanish Conquistadors unable to conquer the fierce Mapuches.

Outpost Maule, on a 5,000 acre private farm on the south shore of the river that lends it’s name, is an escape back in time to a place untouched by the modern developments of Chile’s central region.

LET’S GET DOWN TO BASICS

Furnished Tents + Showers

Each Outpost can sleep up to 16 people in private tents with insulated sleeping rooms and ample living space. Queen and twin air bed configurations are available bathroom and shower facilities are shared.

Kitchen+ Living Dome

We fuel up together each day in the Outpost living dome. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by Outpost team members. Don’t worry, we know good coffee and good Wine fuel an off the grid experience as much as a good breakfast.

Specialty Guides

Outpost guides are intimately familiar with the land and have satellite communications with our base office in Santiago.

100% Off The Grid

Odds are you won’t find Wi-Fi access in any Outpost, but we like the idea of what that frees you up to find. Limited power stations are available.

HOW TO BOOK

You can find each Outpost on a seasonal basis for the region. There are two ways to enjoy an Outpost:
